Gili Paradise

Yayness!

Stranded in Bali's airport lounge for 8 hours (-thanks to Merpati Air!) really not fade the excitement when we're finally landed in Gili Island. Divided into 3 small island; Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno, these triplets are located in the northwest coast of Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat, Indonesia. We stayed for 4 days 3 nights at Villa Ombak, one of the most famous eco hotel in the busiest part of Gili Trawangan.

We arrived quite late, and first thing we do after dropped those heavy luggage was to hit the best resto in the island. As suggested, we tried Scallywags near our hotel, and im not exaggerating but, the food was really blown me away. the fresh-est seafood i've ever taste! they also has the best selection of sambal (chillis) and quite cheapo beer.

As the night still young, we then off to an irish bar named Tir Na Nog and tried their IDR 5000 shots (less than USD 1, ha!)..and the rest of the night was just another story ;)

On day 2, we wake up a bit early to visit Gili Air and Gili Meno. Our boat picked us up around 7am to took us to the snorkling point near the island. The underwater life was amazing, love it when those clown fish tickling and dancing all over your body and the best part was when the giant turtle passed by beautifully and gracefully-as if no one's watching. After half day being down under, we went to Gili Air for lunch then visit Gili Meno for another snorkling and island hopping.

We spent most of our day on day 3 strolling down Gili Trawangan island. Sun bathed at Horizontal Beach, visited the turtle conservation, tried best local food and laid down enjoy the sunset at the sunset point. To be able to go around the island are only by using bicycle, horse, cidomo (horse-drawn carriage) or by foot. We then close our night by watching worldcup quarter final Argentina vs Germany at Tir Na Nog. Epic!

We actually didn't sleep at all that night, it was either because we wanted to enjoy our last night in the island, the German's didn't stop partying until morning or because we needed to leave the island at 4am in the morning to catch 7am flight to Bali. Well i think its all of the above =)

Those white sandy beaches, deep blue ocean, delicious foods, the nemos and the turtles, festivities at the local bars and most of all, the hospitality of the locals are something that makes the island worth the visit. i only have one word to describe the island: PARADISE! and its only 2 hours away from the hustle bustle Jakarta.
